Emoia is one of the great island skink genera of the Pacific, with species spread across thousands of kilometres of ocean. This species is common through much of its range and has a vivid blue tail.
Its relative the Christmas Island forest skink, Emoia nativitatis, is extinct. The last known individual died in captivity in 2014 (see conservation).
